It can be so easy to get stuck in your own little ecosystem these days. I've been stuck up in the university bubble for the last 3 years, and I never really took the chance to see what was right under my nose. Victoria is a host to a wealth of unique experiences just waiting to happen, and I'm kicking myself that I never took it upon myself to explore many of the neat communities here in town.
When my friend Brian said I should shoot the festival this year and got me in contact with the organisers, I had no idea what I was getting into. Little did I know I would meet some of the most ferociously creative bohemians I've ever seen perform and expose myself to some of the highest calibre of emotion I've seen been expressed. To say that I'm still a little shellshocked from the week would be an understatement.
Shout out to all the fine folks at Not Your Grandma's Poetry. They did an absolutely stellar job of organising the festival and I can't wait to see what comes next year. Check them out at
I absolutely shredded through memory cards. I think I shot about 10,000 photos that week, and while I love all of them dearly, here is some of the highlights. Its a strange mix of performance, rehersal, and behind-the-scenes.
The ensemble, a bunch of lovable misfits I got to spend the week with.
